Water Main Replacement Project - Route 104
February 06, 2025
Construction of the replacement of Otter Lake Water Commission’s water mains along the north side of Route 104 between the City of Auburn and the Village of Pawnee was financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The $3,921,461.12 loan has an interest rate of 1.40% and will be repaid over 20 years. This project includes the replacement of the water main between Auburn and Pawnee. Approximately 18,000 lineal feet of 16-inch diameter, 830 lineal feet of 10-inch diameter, and 150 lineal feet of 6-inch diameter main will be installed. Once complete, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in Auburn, Divernon, Girard, Pawnee, Thayer, Virden, Glenarm, Tovey, Nilwood, and South Palmyra Rural Water District by helping to maintain higher and more consistent system pressures, as well as helping to prevent system-wide outages due to water main failures along this stretch of water main. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities with the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
