On Tuesday, February 18, 2025 the Illinois Rural Water Association, the state’s largest rural utility association, selected the entry from Otter Lake Water Commission as its "Best Tasting Water" at their 43rd Annual Technical Conference in Effingham.
The Illinois Rural Water Association’s "Best Tasting Water" Award is given to a water supply based on scoring by a panel of unbiased judges in a “double blind” water taste test. Out of all entries, Otter Lake Water Commission’s entry was decided to be the best tasting overall. Otter Lake Water Commission received a certificate from the Illinois Rural Water Association and will be invited to send an entry to the National Rural Water Association’s Annual Taste Test at their “Rural Water Rally” in Washington, D.C. in February of 2026.
The Illinois Rural Water Association is a private, not-for-profit association of small water and wastewater systems, and is dedicated to training and technical assistance to those individuals who work in the water and wastewater industry. For more information, visit IRWA’s website at www.ilrwa.org.
